Reconciling in Christ means All Are Welcome.

"Reconciling in Christ" is a designation claimed by congregations who have engaged in study, dialog, and discernment to decide to publicly commit themselves to be welcoming places for people of all backgrounds, including people of all sexual orientations and gender identities. Grace first claimed this designation in 1998, after then Pr Delbert Sailer led the congregation through a discernment process. In 2010, Pr Jay McDivitt invited the congregation to re-commit itself to this ministry of invitation and welcome, culminating in the approval of the following "Statement of Welcome and Affirmation" at the January 23, 2011 Annual Meeting:

"Grace Lutheran Church is a religious community that celebrates the gifts of God that empower us to engage in the struggles of life, to care for each other, and to serve Christ where we work and live. Grace is a 'Reconciling in Christ' congregation, which  means we welcome the participation of people of all ages, races, ethnic backgrounds, sexual orientations, gender identities, educational backgrounds, and economic conditions - all who want to join us in serving God, proclaiming our faith, and caring for all creation."

As a part of this process, a new "Reconciling in Christ" working group has been formed to help Grace live into this Statement of Welcome and Affirmation as a community dedicated to invitation and welcome. Tell your friends and family - all are welcome here.
